I pondered the word ‘Virtual’ in my business name for a while. However, if anything, 2020 has taught us all how to become more virtually inclined. Being virtual has enabled us to still speak to our loved ones, at a time when they may feel most vulnerable and unable to physically see anyone. It has enabled us to continue to communicate in our work environments, whether it be a team meeting to start the day, a prospective client meeting or interviewing for a role. People have commented that they speak more to their colleagues and loved ones more now than they did before. I do ponder the amount of technology based time we consume now. However, are we more productive as a result of this ‘new normal’?
I am based in South Australia, one of the most beautiful places in the world. We have been very fortunate here with how our state has handled the COVID-19 pandemic and I am grateful that we are living a more ‘normal’ life that what others are experiencing in the world today.
To that end, I strongly feel that ‘Virtual’ is the way forward, to communicate and interact, now and in the future. I believe we were practicing it before the pandemic, we have just learnt to adapt to it more to communicate this way. It works better for some, and I am sure it doesn’t for others. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a face to face catchup, and I hope to continue to do this. However, for those who prefer the virtual way of communicating and doing business, I am also very open to this. I am here to embrace this virtual way of life. Are you?
